Bruschetta without the Bread

I created this delicious snack after tasting something like it at Meijer. I realized that it was basically bruschetta without the bread. It's really good if you eat it on chips (I like Barely Naked pita chips.)

Tomato (small or big chunks)
Fresh basil
Feta cheese
Garlic
Salt
Pepper
Olive Oil

Cut it all up, mix it all together, and eat!

The Weekend

Very eventful weekend.

I got to spend Friday and Saturday with some wonderful friends. We had a porch party (and got the cops called on us literally just for laughing too loud! oops!), had some fun at Mojos, went on a few walks, had breakfast at new beginnings, ate TONS of samples at Meijer, had dinner at 25 Kitchen and Bar, and road the GR Hopper to Gardellas. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time time. Saturday night was the perfect last night in my house...

Today I said goodbye to 1400 Loags and left all of my roommates behind :(  It was so sad to see my empty room after moving everything out, but I'm excited to be back with my family for however long I may be here. Brad was such a good sport...he helped my family and I move my LOADS of stuff and even put up with my messes and dust :) It was a perfect day for a move!

Summer Pizza Recipe

My dad and I made a delicious pizza tonight. We bought a wheat crust and spread olive oil on it. We had a roasted chicken from Meijer that we cut up and loaded on. Then we added green pepper, onion, and mushrooms (but only on my dad's half :) , feta cheese, salt, and pepper.

After cooking it, we decided we should have sprinkled some olive oil over the top of the ingredients before putting it in the oven. I think garlic would have made a good addition, too. It's really good dipped in ranch...but then again, ALL pizza is good dipped in ranch.

Give it a try! :)

Ninjas

Over the past two days, I had an awesome opportunity! Since I am helping with the RMHWM website, I was asked by Mindscape to attend their Internet Marketing Academy because they had a last minute spot available. Of course, I said yes (although I was a little nervous about being younger and less experienced than the other attendees)! I learned SO MUCH.... (about Search Engine Optimization, Google Analytics, Keyword Research, Social Media, etc.) I was also able to network with a lot of people and hear some really cool ideas.

Mindscape called the class memebers "ninjas in training" and now I am an internet marketing academy ninja. I don't have my own business yet, but when I do work for a company I feel like I will now have all of the necesary knowledge to succeed in internet marketing. In the past two days, I feel like I have learned the equivalent of (or more than) what I learned in college. And the ninja juice and lunch at the JW wasn't bad either ;)

Mom

Happy mother's day to my beautiful mom! She is selfless, funny, and crafty, and she's the person I turn to for my all of my advice. I'm proud to say that I'm growing up to be just like her. I love you mom! Thanks for everything that you do :)

Ronald McDonald House

When I was in the GR airport arriving home from Colorado, my mom and I saw a frantic woman asking the security guards for help. She was going to be staying at the Ronald McDonald House and a taxi was supposed to be there to pick her up. However, her plane was very late and the taxi must have left. She didn't know what to do. One of the security guards took her outside to assist her in finding a cab. Meanwhile, another guard was standing near the little boy she was with (her son?) and looked like he had no idea what to do with him. The boy looked very young and sick. He was reclined on a large car with luggage on it. He soon became scared and started to cry, the guard standing by not knowing how to comfort him.

This situation really inspired me to become involved at the Ronald McDonald House. For those of you who don't know what it is, they house families while their children are being treated for sickness at the nearby hospitals. They take families from 30+ miles away, and offer a place of comfort, rest, and fellowship. They treat the building as a house, not a hotel, which allows families to interact and provide support for one another.

I decided to reach out to the House to see if I could volunteer. As it turns out, the head of development (Joe) wants my help with their website. A day after I met with Joe, I went to a meeting with him at Hanon McKendry, a branding firm, to hear about their plans for re-designing the website. My part is to help figure out what content we want on the site, and where. Ironically, the branding firm is a place that I would love to work, and one of the employees reached out to me and told me I should turn in a resume. We'll see if I get a lead from this :)

I am so excited to be involved in the Ronald McDonald House! I get to use my knowledge in marketing and writing, and I get to gain experience. The website redesign will generate more traffic, which will hopefully lead to more donations, volunteers, and guests at the house. I love that I get to be a part of the project and that I get to use  my talents to make a difference!

Here's the current website. http://www.wmrmh.org/
I'll post the link again when the changes are complete!

Endings

Ahhh what a good feeling. I'm all done with school! It really was a perfect day to graduate too. The ceremony wasn't TOO boring, I had a delicious lunch with my family and Brad, and then spent the night at Mojos with allll of my friends. Perfect. Now I'm just extremely antsy waiting to know what's next for me. Keeping my fingers crossed for the Ann Arbor job, but trying not to get my hopes up too much. As for now, it feels great to only have 3 days a week of work and nothing else!!! :)

But sadly, as one thing is coming to an end, so is another... I'm saying my last goodbye to Fisher today because he is moving on to his next phase of training. I'm going to miss him so much :(
